Gentlemens Rockabilly with Sievert Ahrend, Reinhard de Witt, and Ernst Wiemer

Eagerly anticipated and long awaited, the Leer-based rockabilly trio TRAIN 45 can and will finally get the audience fired up on stage again, kicking off the summer with a full-throttle dive into the ’50s.
Ernst Wiemer, Reinhard de Witt, and Sievert Ahrend—whose long-standing friendship, extending far beyond music, has endured for years—set off a musical fireworks display of good taste with songs from the ’50s and ’60s hailing from both Germany and the United States. Their repertoire ranges from country, bluegrass, and rock ’n’ roll—featuring hits by Hank Williams, Bill Monroe, and Elvis Presley, among others—to reelin’ (an Irish dance in 4/4 time), which Reinhard de Witt leads with enthusiasm, twirling and tapping the snare drum while interspersing the set with all sorts of whimsical announcements. This also incorporates other modern musical props such as a washboard and a comb… all the way to the wonderful “hit songs” of yesteryear in the style of Peter Kraus, Fred Bertelmann, Freddy Quinn, and many other memorable performers. Ernst Wiemer also confidently and assuredly showcases his latest creations—gymnastic exercises—on, under, and atop his quite sturdy double bass. By the time he builds a pyramid-like structure, the crowd is really getting into the swing of things. Frontman and lead singer Sievert Ahrend happily picks up this fast pace on guitar, banjo, and—especially in duets with Ernst Wiemer—on the fiddle. It grooves, rocks, and rolls so hard that your feet glow and hats fly to the ceiling until the place is buzzing—as has often been the case at TRAIN 45’s performances at the Kulturspeicher and during the Kulturnacht der Kirchen at the Lutherkirche. Needless to say, the band gets by without a lot of technical bells and whistles, because here, virtuosity, originality, pitch-perfect vocals, and charisma—paired with a healthy dose of taste and humor—take center stage and definitely have the upper hand:
As always, full steam ahead into the ’50s!!!
So it’s no surprise that the trio’s performance reach quickly expanded beyond the “East Frisian outback.”
TRAIN 45 delivers rockabilly at its finest, along with a spectacular stage show full of heart and humor! Whether at major gigs and shows or private events: TRAIN 45 always gives it their all! And that’s exactly how it will be at their big double concert in Leer!
