Töpfermarkt Bad Bevensen

Artisan market
Other market
In August, about 50 professional pottery studios will showcase a wide variety of ceramics at the pottery market in Bad Bevensen’s spa park.

Traditionally, the pottery market takes place in the spa gardens in Bad Bevensen in the Lüneburg Heath. For the 26th time, the green lawns along the Ilmenau River will serve as the backdrop for the popular pottery market on the last weekend in August. Around 50 workshops from all over Germany will showcase ceramics in a wide variety of colors and shapes, transforming the Kurpark into a colorful work of art.

A few workshops have participated in every pottery market, others almost always, and still others have only recently begun coming to this town in the Heath. What makes the market particularly appealing, however, is that about a quarter of the exhibitors are new each year, ensuring that even regular visitors always discover something new. Whether it’s tableware, one-of-a-kind pieces like bowls and vases, garden decorations, jewelry, or decorative objects—almost anything can be made from ceramics. To this day, this ancient craft has lost none of its appeal; the color schemes and designs are modern, and the material used—clay—symbolizes regional character and sustainability.

The pottery market takes place in the Lüneburg Heath during the most beautiful time of year—namely, when the otherwise rather unassuming heather dons its purple festive attire. The distinctive scent of blooming heather—or, more correctly, *Caluna vulgaris*—the buzzing of bees, and the millions of delicately spun spiderwebs that blanket the misty heath in the early morning create magical moments. Combined with a visit to the pottery market and relaxation at the Jod-Sole-Therme, where you can soak in the healing waters for which Bad Bevensen is famous, this weekend in August becomes a feast for all the senses.
