Südstrandsafari zu den "small five"

Who leaves those little piles of sand on the mudflats? How do the tides work, and what causes that crackling sound on the mudflats? Discover the unique wildlife of the Wadden Sea at Südstrand on an excursion across the seabed. Using dip nets, digging forks, and magnifying glasses, you’ll explore the mudflats with all your senses.

When the water recedes and exposes the seabed, many mudflat inhabitants emerge, and each one has a fascinating story to tell. Get to know five of these fascinating animals—including the lugworm, the cockle, the shore crab, the mud snail, and the North Sea shrimp, known as the “Small Five”—a little better. Of course, during the approximately 1.5-hour safari, you’ll be accompanied by knowledgeable staff from the Wadden Sea Visitor Center, who can share amazing facts about the mudflat inhabitants.

• Unfortunately, strollers, walkers, etc., cannot be taken to the South Beach. A mudflat vehicle for wheelchair users is available. If needed, please note this when registering.
• Dogs are not permitted.
• After the event, you can clean your boots or shoes at the Wadden Sea Visitor Center’s boot-washing station.
