On our tour, you’ll learn how fear, superstition, and power struggles shaped people’s lives, and you’ll learn about documented stories from Peine as well as the background of the events of that time—supplemented by fascinating insights into the origins of customs and proverbs still known today.
At the end of the tour, we invite you to the inner courtyard of the Schwan. There, in addition to some “magical refreshments,” you’ll find a selection of historical torture instruments, provided and expertly explained by Mysticum from Groß Lafferde. These striking exhibits vividly—and unsettlingly—illustrate the methods of the judicial system of that era, allowing history to leave a lasting impression.
