First of all: Does anyone even know who Lusterboden is? Let’s put it this way: in the Viennese music scene, you come across the name—yes, it’s just as unconventional as Bilderbuch or Buntspecht—all the time. As an insider tip. As something that’s actually not really an insider tip anymore. As the next big thing. As an unstoppable newcomer act. As a phenomenon.
And yet this group—which at its core consists of just two young musicians, the duo Florian Klingler and Merlin Miglinci—has released only one album so far: “Sturz auf Wien,” released in 2024. It wasn’t even released on vinyl or CD, but the streaming numbers for this very low-key release have been spectacular. Astonishingly spectacular. By the summer of 2025, Merlin and Florian had, for example, over ten thousand monthly listeners on Spotify! On Instagram, some of their short videos have 3,000 likes or more. Other acts—world-famous in Austria—can’t achieve that in years.
