Ritterfest zur Herrlichkeit Dornum

Once again this year, the Fogelvreien will be arriving in Dornum to hold a spectacle, to drive away the burdens of everyday life and to announce what has happened in times gone by.
According to ancient custom, the most skilled craftsmen of the Occident perform their daily work, well-traveled merchants offer their wares from all over the world and taverns and roasters provide foaming beer and juicy meat for your physical well-being.
But not only your palate and stomach are catered for, there is also plenty for your eyes and ears. Foolish jugglers perform their mischief for the amusement of the people, magicians perform their most astonishing tricks while the most gifted musicians on earth perform their melodies from all over the world in the middle of the stage!
Behind the castle, the tents of the army camps stretch as far as the eye can see. This is where the most glorious knights gather for daring ground battles and spectacular tournaments. The ladies' favor is fought over with sword, shield and axe, and the lords on horseback compete with each other in a joust with the lance.
The spectacle ends for now with an exhilarating tavern game on Sunday, where all the artists give their best for you once again, but it's not yet time for melancholy because the colorful hustle and bustle continues on the following
Friday.
On Friday evening, the festival really gets into full swing, because now the gates to the Otherworld open! Mystical creatures from all dimensions of the hidden underworld emerge from the forests and take the people on a fascinating journey! Elves, goblins and fairies roam the square, which is transformed into a mystical, magical world by elaborate illuminations. A tremendous spectacle that culminates in a brilliant evening concert where all the actors gather once again in front of the stage.
On Saturday and Sunday, when the creatures have found their way back to the underworlds, the focus is once again on medieval hustle and bustle.
