Help people help themselves - repair instead of throw away!

A Repair Café is not just a repair service, but a place where defective everyday objects are repaired together under the guidance of volunteer repairers. Whether it's a flat bicycle tire, a broken blender or a hole in your favorite sweater - this is where people screw, solder, mend and sew. The aim is to save things from being thrown away, share knowledge and promote the independence of visitors. The service is free of charge, but donations - also in the form of cakes or cookies - are welcome.

What services are available

The Repair Café Bad Zwischenahn offers repairs for bicycles, wooden items, clothing, small electrical appliances, computers, smartphones and walking frames, depending on the experience of the volunteers. Knife and scissor sharpening is also offered. In addition, there are book and clothes swaps as well as creative upcycling workshops with changing themes. A café area invites visitors to chat over coffee and cake. As the repairs on offer may vary depending on the availability of helpers, the exact focus will be announced on the website before each event.

When and where?

The Repair Café Bad Zwischenahn takes place once a month on the first Saturday at the Oberschule Bad Zwischenahn (Schillerstraße 2, 26160 Bad Zwischenahn).

How can I help?

Volunteers with manual skills or special expertise (e.g. in electronics, PC or smartphone repairs) are always welcome. But even if you don't have any repair experience, you can help with the organization, set-up or in the café area. Anyone interested can simply drop by the next Repair Café or get in touch by email. Anyone can take part - whether as a repair professional or as a helper in the background.

Supporters and sponsors

The Repair Café was initiated by Rainer Theuerkauff and is supported by the W.I.M. group and the Erwin Roeske Foundation Bad Zwischenahn. Thanks to the cooperation with principal Dr. Jürgen Boy and the municipality, the premises of the Bad Zwischenahn secondary school can be used. In addition, the Repair Café is part of the "Lernort Reparatur" project, which is funded by the Metropolitan Region Northwest and carried out in close cooperation with the University of Oldenburg, the ReparaturRat and the RessourcenZentrum Oldenburg.
