Pilgern auf historischen Spuren: Jüdische Erinnerungen
In the Footsteps of Jewish History in Winsen
Join the Museum im Marstall and Pastor Koehn on a special pilgrimage through Winsen and discover Jewish history at sites that still tell its story today. The route starts at St. Marien, passes through the Jewish cemetery, and continues to the train station and St. Jakobus. The route passes by sites of Jewish life and some of the Stolpersteine in the town. The historical traces are complemented by texts, music, and personal stories that inspire reflection. The tour also explores the shared roots of Judaism and Christianity and commemorates Jewish life in Winsen. The tour concludes with a joint prayer service at St. Jakobus featuring a psalm, a song, and a menorah.
The pilgrimage route is 4 km long and ends at St. Jakobus Church. From there, participants can choose to return by car or take a group walk (2.5 km) back to the Marstall.
The pilgrimage is organized by the museum’s pilgrimage team—Angelika Sievers, Eva-Maria Mechtel, and Ilona Johannsen—in collaboration with Pastor Ulrike Koehn from St. Mary’s Church in Winsen.
