Open House on Sunday at the Steinrode Medieval Village

It’s time once again to watch, play, and join in when our medieval village of Steinrode, located at Kohlenstraße 101, 34346 Hann. Münden, opens its gates to drop-in visitors: on Sunday, September 6, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Adults 18 and older pay an “entry fee” of four euros; children and teens get in free.

There’s a whole range of outdoor games to choose from, ranging from classic sack races and jump rope to Viking tennis and mouse races, as well as ladder golf and many others. Game equipment can be borrowed free of charge at the church, where you can also try your hand at writing with a quill and ink. In the sandbox, you can go on a treasure hunt, and you can explore with your hands and feet—at the sensory boxes and on the small barefoot trail.

Our grounds feature cozy spots to sit and eat, and we offer grilled snacks, coffee, and cake.

You can watch the blacksmith at work or even try your hand at swinging the blacksmith’s hammer yourself—for a “learning fee” of about 5 euros—to forge an S-hook.
A short guided tour with information about Steinrode and our association begins around noon.

Our workshop offering this time: making small leather pouches and filling them with a game to take on the go. The workshop begins at 1:30 p.m.; participation costs 5 euros.
Dogs are welcome, but please keep them on a leash. We kindly remind you that consuming food and drinks you’ve brought from home is not permitted on our open Sundays.
