They lay hidden in the bog for hundreds, and in some cases thousands, of years: bog bodies offer you a unique glimpse into the world of our ancestors. During the 135-minute bog train ride with four stops, you’ll learn what discoveries from across Europe reveal about life, last meals, clothing, and the circumstances of death during the Bronze and Iron Ages. You’ll learn about how the dead were treated back then, the interpretation of mysterious bog phenomena, as well as discovery sites and research methods.

Afterward, a specially curated two-course meal awaits you in a relaxed atmosphere at the Torfwerk Café-Restaurant.

This trip can only be booked as a package deal up to one week before the date.

On Saturday, October 31, 2026, the last special tour—“Bog Bodies and a Meal”—for this year will take place. Due to the departure time (3:15 p.m.), you’ll ride the Moorbahn into the darkness that day and experience the moor in a whole new way.*
