Mit Frieda nach Glückstadt und zurück - Gemüse unter Segeln
Barge Frieda - Sailing the Elbe to Glückstadt to Ship Vegetables
Sailing silently over the Elbe on an authentic ship, with a bit of luck spotting eagles or seals, experiencing a moving monument. All this is possible on this Elbe tour with the Giekewer Frieda.
On Friday, September 18, the Giekewer Frieda will set sail from the Stade city harbor with a great crew towards Glückstadt to collect cabbage and other vegetables from Dithmarschen. Stade is celebrating the sixth Stader Kohltag in September. Freshly harvested cabbage from the Dithmarscher Kohltage will be brought by water to Stade, where the cargo will be sold directly from the ship the next day. The tour starts at 8:30 a.m. at the Stade city harbor and ends here again around 7:30 p.m. – a whole day of ship enjoyment. Experience freight transport as it used to be, with loading taking place in the harbor of Glückstadt. Become part of the crew and join us on the Elbe. Help with loading is explicitly welcomed.
The Frieda was built in 1909 at the Junge Werft on the Elbe. Since 2014, it has been registered as a movable cultural monument.
