Rides on the light railroad through the Piesberg Culture and Landscape Park
A ride on the historic light railroad through the Piesberg Culture and Landscape Park is a very special experience for all light railway fans young and old! Between April and October, the small narrow-gauge trains of the Feldbahn Piesberg Osnabrück e. V. association set off every first and third Sunday of the month from 11.00 am to 6.00 pm. Starting from the "Haseschacht" light railroad station, the 1.4 km long northern line in the direction of Stüveschacht and the 1 km southern line in the direction of Erdzeitaltertreppe are served.
Guests can get off at Stüveschacht station and visit the accessible ruins of the Stüveschacht mine's dewatering building from the days of the Piesberg coal mine free of charge. Starting from the "Südstieg" station, the Piesberg can be climbed via the spectacular geological staircase. Once at the top, you will be rewarded with a breathtaking view over Osnabrück and an impressive insight into the Piesberg quarry.
A trip on the light railway can easily be combined with a hike across the Piesberg, a visit to the diverse exhibitions in the MIK Museum of Industrial Culture or a delicious piece of cake in the KulturCafé of the Piesberg Gesellschaftshaus. A look at the historic colliery station is also highly recommended!

Before the light railroads on the Piesberg were completely replaced by trucks in the 1960s, they transported the carbon quartzite extracted from the adjacent quarry to the crushing plants. In the Piesberg coal mine, which operated until 1889, the high-quality anthracite coal was transported to the mine station in horse-drawn wagons on light railway tracks. Today, restored locomotives pull various passenger carriages and bring a piece of Osnabrück history to life for visitors!

At weekends, visitors arriving by car can park in the parking lot on Fürstenauer Weg next to the Piesberg waste management center. The Haseschacht light railway station is a 500m walk from there.
