Mit dem „Watt'n Express“ Zugvögel im Weltnaturerbe Wattenmeer erleben
The tour begins in the center of Horumersiel, at the “Watt’n Express” train station, and winds its way through the town and then across the Groden to Schillighafen. From there, the route crosses the dike and continues outside the dike along the lagoon and the sandy beach of Schillig, and then right along the water’s edge—in close proximity to the Wadden Sea, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site—all the way to the Horumersiel harbor. Inside the dike, the route continues past the Speicherpolder to Crildumersiel, and from there, outside the dike, back to the harbor and then on to the final stop in Horumersiel. At various points (e.g., in Horumersiel Harbor), the train stops and passengers get off for closer observation. The bird-watching tour aboard the tourist train affectionately known as “Frida” is led by experienced ornithologists from the WAU. You’ll learn fascinating facts about the migratory birds resting at the edge of the mudflats and on the adjacent areas during high tide.
