Guided nature tour
... on foot
On the trail of ancient stones and living history, guided by Astrid Schmidtendorf.
Landscape history excursion
On a walk, we explore a quarry near Melle-Barkhausen that has been designated a natural monument. This quarry used to be of particular importance and was under the control of the Prince-Bishop of Osnabrück. The stones quarried there were supplied to Osnabrück for the reconstruction of the town hall, for example. The formation of the Schilfsandstein at the time of the Keuper and the appearance of the landscape are discussed.
