Lesung mit Regine Kölpin

On October 30, 2026, author Regine Kölpin will present her new novel, “Das Seebad am Nordseestrand,” in the hall at the Hooksiel Guest House.

Published on July 31, 2026, the novel transports readers to Wangerooge in 1829—a time when a modest seaside resort was poised to become a place of splendor and prestige. The story centers on Bernhardine Westing, who, when her husband is appointed seaside resort commissioner, dares to do the impossible and drives the resort’s rise with unwavering determination—much to the dismay of some Wangerooge residents. Beeke Tammen, an islander from a humble background, finds not only work in Bernhardine’s kitchen but also her calling, and becomes the aloof woman’s closest confidante. But then their blossoming friendship is put to a severe test.

With historical accuracy and a keen sense of her characters, Regine Kölpin tells a story of ambition and solidarity, of social upheaval and the question of what friendship can endure, while also painting a vivid picture of the early days of the North Sea resort industry.

All North Sea fans can look forward to an entertaining evening with the author, which will, of course, conclude with a book signing.
