Industriekultur andernorts: Zeche Nachtigall in Witten

For several years now, the Osnabrück Photographic Society has been holding small photo exhibitions in the Haseschacht building of the MIK. This series is called "Industrial Culture Elsewhere", as the photographers go on excursions throughout Germany for the exhibitions and photograph other places of industrial culture. The pictures offer a view beyond their own horizons, showing impressions of industrial heritage landscapes in other regions and thus enabling interesting comparisons with the conditions on their own doorstep on the Piesberg. The Nachtigall colliery is part of the LWL Museum of Industrial Heritage and is located at the entrance to the Muttental valley in Witten. This is where Ruhr mining began more than 300 years ago.
