Born by the water and raised on the mudflats, Ilona Kümmel has developed a deep connection with the coastal landscape. Her paintings bear the traces of this heritage: not only nature, but also the coastal town's attitude to life is visible in her works.
Her works thrive on the confluence of motif, color and brushstroke in the dynamic act of painting. They are full of palpable energy and an expression of her creative spontaneity, which is part of her zest for life.
The exhibition comprises a total of 22 predominantly large-format acrylic works and can be seen until January 11, 2026 on the first floor of the visitor center.
