Glitz

"Glitz" celebrates the power of popular music, the power of the dancefloor. The piece begins with the tension before the concert, the anxiety before the storm. Then the tension explodes into a frenzy: music hits your stomach and legs. Spotlights glisten, basses thump, dancers unleash an associative plot of pop culture in which you don't actually want to sit, but rather stand, dance, be in the middle of it.
 
The piece celebrates the culture of the night, the intoxication of utopia. It is a passionate, defiant, witty, poetic homage to the transformative power of pop.
 
The Sebastian Weber Dance Company, known for its energetic, visually powerful tap dance, takes to the stage with a large band. In creative dramaturgies, the international ensemble develops surprising pieces on contemporary themes. "Glitz" was created as a large band project with a rhythm section, two wind players and seven dancers.
