Civil war rages outside the walls of Thebes: the brothers Polynices and Eteocles are fighting each other to the death. Creon, Eteocles’ chief advisor, desperately tries to maintain order with an iron fist and plans to establish his son Haimon as governor, perhaps even as heir to the throne. But Haimon senses that he has no place in his father’s world. While his peers go off to war, doubts grow within him: about violence, about expectations, and about the rigid ideals of masculinity that he does not live up to. 

Then Antigone enters his life—rebellious and unyielding. She embodies everything Haimon longs for: a life guided by his own values and the refusal to accept injustice as fate. Will Haimon bow to his father’s destructive system, or will he stand up for his convictions to the very end…?

Ensemble member Friedrich Steinlein (*1992) tells, in his reinterpretation of the ancient character, an intense coming-of-age story about a young man resisting a violent order. HAIMON explores the generational conflicts, the search for self-determination—and the courage to preserve humanity in a ruthless world.
