Die Landesbühne Nord präsentiert "Die Heimsuchung"

  • Straight theatre

A house on a lake in the Mark is at the center of the story. Fifteen life stories, which unfold in and around the house, leave traces of memory within it: Beginning in the Weimar Republic, through the “Third Reich,” World War II, the postwar period, the GDR, and the fall of the Berlin Wall, all the way to the era of reunification, the fates of the residents unfold. The house is subject to the passage of time, as it continually changes to meet the needs of its owners. The only constant: the gardener, a quiet loner and observer of people and nature.

In her 2008 novel *HEIMSUCHUNG*, Jenny Erpenbeck (*1967*) tells the story of an unassuming house poetically, with an eye for detail, and within a historical context. At the same time, however, she also sheds light on the stories of those who have repeatedly lost their homes due to political and social upheaval. An impressive panorama of the 20th century that, through atmosphere and sweeping imagery, poses the question of what remains once our time has passed.
