Wolfenbüttel Christmas Market

Set against the backdrop of the picturesque Schlossplatz, historic buildings, and half-timbered houses, lovingly decorated booths shine with tempting delicacies and exquisite handicrafts.

Amid sparkling fir trees, cozy seating areas invite you to enjoy hot mulled wine and punch, as well as savory and sweet treats.

A diverse program of children’s activities, choral music, and live bands sets the mood for the contemplative Advent season. Regional choirs and brass bands, as well as rock bands and jazz musicians, enhance the atmosphere with classic Christmas carols and modern interpretations.

Young Christmas market visitors are drawn to special activities such as storytime, group singing and dancing, and exciting stories from the puppet theater. St. Nicholas and Santa Claus will also be visiting Lessingstadt again with small gifts.

The festive atmosphere extends beyond Schlossplatz to the entire downtown area. Numerous new stalls and impressive light installations expand the Christmas market into the Old Town, inviting visitors to linger and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

A cozy Christmas courtyard is being set up in front of the Löwentor. The loop continues through the market stalls, across the square in front of Bankhaus Seeliger, and on to the Stadtmarkt. There, the “Friedenstanne” (Peace Fir) stands as a traditional symbol of peace, international understanding, humanity, and solidarity. On weekends, the route continues to the arts and crafts market in the Kommisse, featuring the cozy Advent courtyard, before returning to Schlossplatz. Thanks to the new Christmas market stalls, the pedestrian zone is filled with the aromas of Swiss mulled wine, hot Wolfenbüttel cocktails, warming soups, and sweet apple crumble.
