Second Advent. - Instead of romantic snow flurries, it's raining and storming and the outside thermometer reads eight degrees Celsius. We defy the grimy northern German weather and escape into the warmth and contemplation of the St. Nicholas and Christmas market in Bad Rothenfelde.
The illuminated graduation house greets us from afar and envelops us a little later with its soothing aerosol-laden air. Bad Rothenfelde's landmark is flanked by small Christmas stalls with an appealing range of lovingly handcrafted souvenirs such as jewelry, textiles, honey and decorative woodwork. Even the typical mulled wine, crèpe and sausage stalls as well as the small fairground ride blend unobtrusively into the atmospheric, pre-Christmas scenery.
