Babilonie – eine vorrömische Wallburganlage

Walking / hiking
We hike along the meter-high ramparts of Babilonie, which were built over 2000 years ago. Even non-experts will immediately recognize that these are not natural structures, but man-made earth walls. The approx. 12-hectare area, enclosed by ramparts and ditches, was probably used as a place of worship, and it is also conceivable that it was used as a refuge. There is evidence that the site was visited by people during the pre-Roman Iron Age up to the Middle Ages and was also permanently inhabited at times. Duplicates of two finds, which are on display in the Lübbecke Museum, can be viewed. We want to experience this impressive human site first-hand.

Note: Suitable for children aged 8 and over.
