Learn more about the history of Aurich.
On a guided city tour, you’ll learn many interesting facts about historic buildings, life in Aurich, and some of its former residents.

The Aurich City Guides Association will offer guided tours on Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. during the 2026 Lower Saxony summer break. You can find the dates in our event calendar.

The meeting point is always at the Tourist Information Office of the Tourism Association (at the ZOB). You’ll walk along the city fortifications—parts of which still stand—and through the pedestrian zone with its unique atmosphere: well-preserved houses, restored facades from various centuries, and beautiful gables. But you’ll also see the new Aurich and a remarkable blend of old and new, such as the market square, Aurich’s “parlor.”
