Auf der Historischen Straße durch den Hümmlinger Süden

Bird sanctuary
This guided hike invites you to discover the Hümmling region in its most authentic form. Starting from the center of Klein Berßen, the trail winds through a diverse cultural landscape where forests, fields, and traces of history blend harmoniously.
A special highlight is the historic road dating back to 1843: the old cobblestones and the avenue lined with mighty oak trees vividly convey what it was like for travelers to pass through here in days gone by. Those who walk through the landscape with an attentive eye will discover small reminders of times past along the way—gnarled heath shrubs serve as a reminder of the era when dunes and juniper heaths shaped the Hümmling’s landscape.
The tour is led by Birgit Kuper-Gerdes, a certified nature and landscape guide, who shares interesting facts along the way about the history, landscape development, and unique flora and fauna of the Hümmling region. If desired, the group hike can come to a leisurely close in Klein Berßen with coffee and cake.
A relaxing discovery tour that uniquely combines nature, history, and personal insights.
