Guided Hike for Kids

Experience nature through play: Join forester Manfred Loos on World Children’s Day for a trip to the nature reserve. That afternoon, children can discover the exciting world of the Lüneburg Heath and its hidden secrets on a guided hike along the Haverbeeke Heath Loop.

Hear, see, feel, smell—all the senses are engaged as participants work together to solve puzzles and play games under the expert guidance of Manfred Loos. This year, the focus is especially on the Heidschnucken sheep and their herding dogs. The event marks the Heidschnucken’s designation as the “Endangered Livestock Breed of the Year 2026,” allowing children to learn more about this special species and its important role in the heathland landscape through play.

And at the end, a little surprise awaits all participants. Fun, games, and adventure are guaranteed!

The guided hike along the accessible, 3.6-kilometer-long loop trail on the Heidschnuckenweg is designed for children ages six and up. All children must be accompanied by an adult; a maximum of one adult per child is allowed. Please be sure to wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy shoes.
