Dr. Voß will focus primarily on the 18th century, examining both the new church building and its predecessor. Key questions include who financed the new building at that time and what the village structures were like during that period.
As a theologian and church historian with a Ph.D., Dr. Voß brings in-depth expertise to the subject: For more than a quarter of a century, he has served as a research associate at the Johannes a Lasco Library in Emden, where his research focuses on East Frisian church history and Anabaptist studies. His dissertation already dealt with the “Emden Religious Debate of 1578” as well as the theological profile of the Flemish Mennonites. He is currently leading a DFG-funded editorial project aimed at digitally and graphically compiling the correspondence of the Emden Mennonite and writer Antje Brons.
