Nils Holgersson - Sehnsucht nach Lappland

Freely adapted from the story by Selma Lagerlöf "Just be free for one day and fly, like Nils!" Grown-up Nils sits in his parlor and is trapped in his everyday life. When someone grows up, he no longer has time to fly with geese. The laundry has to be done, the flowers watered and dinner prepared. But suddenly he hears geese chattering and remembers. He remembers his childhood friends. The time they spent together, when they went off to Lapland and spent the night with sheep or discovered sunken cities. Selma Lagerlöf wrote this book in 1906 to introduce children to her country Sweden through short episodic stories. A puppeteer and a musician tell a selection of these stories in illustrated songs and lively scenes. The tea towels chatter and the flower pots grumble. A play about friendship, caring and saying goodbye. A journey that gives comfort.
