Tradition meets indulgence - a true East Frisian classic takes center stage at the 8th Speckendicken-Essen in Jennelt  Speckendicken are a type of pancake. As a local specialty of regional cuisine, they are eaten particularly in south-western East Frisia and Groningen in the period between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Ingredients: Shredded wheat flour - rye flour, buckwheat flour - syrup - sugar, salt - lard - eggs - milk, aniseed and cardamom. Baked with streaky bacon and Mettwurst sausage. The delicious winter dish is freshly baked around the village square and served in a convivial atmosphere. The aroma of warm bacon, hearty sausage and sweet beet syrup fills the air and whets the appetite for this unmistakable taste experience. The Speckendicken meal has long been more than just a culinary event: it is a living piece of East Frisian culture. Whether locals or guests - people come together here to cultivate old traditions, tell stories and enjoy them together in a convivial atmosphere.
