Directions

The NORDPFAD begins at the east entrance of the **Scheeßel train station.** We leave the town through a small industrial park and quickly reach a varied landscape of fields, meadows, and forests. Particularly impressive here is the **Scheeßeler Holz**, with its dense mixed and coniferous forest.

The trail continues through the Veerse Valley and across the Lünzener Bruchbach. Behind the **Westervesede Sports Field** , we cross the **Veerse** and hike to the **Veerse Rest Area**. With a shelter, benches, and a table, this offers an ideal place to rest before we cross the K 211 and leave the Veerse Valley.

For the next 3.6 km, the NORDPFAD follows a wide paved road that was originally built as an access road to a former ammunition depot. This stretch of the trail, with little traffic, leads through the Lohmoor, which captivates visitors with its diverse landscape. A particular highlight is the stunning **Großes Lohmoor aquatic biotope**, which captivates visitors with its diverse landscape, and the near-natural standing water body known as the Lohmoor. An unassuming signpost points the way to the observation point.

The trail winds through the expansive Lohmoor, passing the **Hemslinger Moor Nature Reserve**. This raised bog is currently undergoing renaturation. A rest area invites you to linger. We then approach the birch and pine forest of the **Bösenkamper Moor**. Here, the grasses and mosses typical of moors are gradually returning. The trail continues on soft ground through the tranquil forest landscape.

A 1.9-km-long detour leads from there to **Brockel,** before we pass the Bartelsdorf Wind Farm and reach another fork in the trail. Via another detour, which is signposted a little further on, you can reach the (Starting point 2 of this hike) or to the village of **Wensebrock**, which is a bit further away at 1.9 km (with a small campground). From this junction, the trail continues through forests, meadows, and farmland, past the Bartelsdorf Cemetery, and on to the village of **Bartelsdorf.** The old farms here are wonderful, as is the with its lovely rest area (though in winter, this is dismantled to make it "winter-proof").

We leave Bartelsdorf, cross the Bartelsdorf Canal, return to the meadow-rich Veerse Valley, and reach the .This oak-plank bridge runs through the floodplain of the Veerse River. It is the longest wooden bridge in the NORDPFADE region; it was once the most important connection between Bartelsdorf and Scheeßel. In the summer, the area dries up, and during floods, it transforms into a large lake.

The final leg leads back to the **Scheeßel train station.** But first, you’ll pass by the **Bassen Farm** , where a window offers a glimpse into a sow barn. In the adjacent or at the , a dairy stop open from May through October, you can refuel with coffee, ice cream, cake, and milkshakes. A great spot for a final rest stop. At the end of the hike, **Scheeßel,** a town that blends the tried-and-true with the modern, invites you to take an interesting exploration tour and stop for a bite at one of its restaurants or cafés.

**Connections to Other NORDPFADEN Trails**
A 1.6-km access path leads from the Scheeßel train station to starting point 1 of the.

**Trail Closures**
Before your hike, you should check  to check for possible detours and trail disruptions that may occur due to flooding, storm damage, or forestry work, for example. Restrictions may occur, particularly during the Hurricane Festival, which takes place on the third weekend in June.
