Directions

It starts directly at the parking lot at the Salzderhelden salt works - uncomplicated and convenient. After just a few steps, you reach the first highlight, the , which was rebuilt after a fire. It is not only a beautiful photo motif, but also an exciting part of the history of the village. The route continues along easily accessible graveland asphalt paths, past the idyllic and the imposing final structure of the flood retention basin

After around three kilometers, the path leads you past numerous blackberry hedges and further along the Leine meadows. It's worth taking a look on both sides: from here you have a great view of the Heldenburg and the impressive **bridge over the B3** - a real eye-catcher!

The route then climbs a little, where another beautiful view of the bridge and the surrounding area awaits you.

Through the quiet residential area of Salzderhelden, the route continues to a small **trail** that leads you up to castle. In good weather, you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the town and the surrounding area. The impressive **castle ruins** tell their very own story - with a little imagination, you can wonderfully transport yourself back to times gone by.

On the way back you will pass the cozy restaurant - a lovely place to end the excursion with a drink or a delicious meal.

Afterwards, you walk a short distance along the road and through the village before you return to the field path from the beginning.

**Relax and walk the last few meters back to the parking lot.

**Accessibility<<**The path is suitable for baby carriages up to km 3.5. After that, a beautiful forest path (approx. 250-300 m) leads directly to Heldenburg Castle.

Alternatively, you can take the path downhill via "Am Heldenberg - Kurze Bergstraße - Einbecker Straße" and then follow the signs to Heldenburg Castle (approx. 1 km detour).**
