Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author

Combine some sections of the route with a ride on a historic narrow-gauge railway or the Elbe Bike Tour Bus. Several rail lines also run alongside the bike trail along the entire route (see notes under the “Public Transportation” section).

**Historic Moorexpress**
The Historic Moorexpress promises old-fashioned railroad charm and a chance to slow down—a red narrow-gauge train that typically chugs along every weekend and on holidays from May through October between Bremen, Worpswede, Gnarrenburg, Bremervörde, and Stade. The best part of this leisurely travel experience is that, thanks to a bicycle car, it can be perfectly combined with your cycling trip. Treat yourself to a break along the eventful 99 kilometers that run parallel to the bike trail. At 22 stations between Bremen and Stade, the lets you hop on and off at 22 stations.

**Elbe Cycling Tour Bus**
The runs daily from mid-April to early October on weekends and holidays through the Altes Land vacation region along the Elbe River. It connects the towns along the Elbe and runs from Harsefeld via Jork, Stade, and Wischhafen to the
elbow estuary near Balje. Tickets are available on the bus, and the stops are marked with the bus’s logo.

Safety guidelines

The 450-km-long “From the Teufelsmoor to the Wadden Sea” cycling trail takes you along mostly paved paths through the flat to gently rolling landscape of northern Germany. However, since the trail passes through many scenic natural areas, it also runs in places along unpaved and narrow paths. On these sections—depending on the weather—short stretches of the trail may be damp or sandy. The extra effort, however, is rewarded by an immersive experience of nature away from main traffic routes.
