These farmers dammed the stream to periodically flood their meadows, which significantly restricted the mill’s operations. After protracted legal proceedings, the miller was granted exclusive water diversion rights in the Bade area, and the farmers were required to remove their weirs. In 1945, German soldiers blew up the former wooden bridge over the mill weir. The waterwheel and the weir were also destroyed in the process. It was not until 1953 that the mill weir and the bridge spanning it were rebuilt. In 1995, a new waterwheel was installed at the mill, restoring its functionality. There is a lovely resting spot at the mill with a view of the Mühlenteich pond. The mill can also be toured by appointment and serves as a special wedding venue for couples who wish to exchange vows."

Built in 1542, this former mill, with its impressive undershot waterwheel, is one of ten watermills in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district. Thanks to the large mill pond and its tributary, the Bade—which is constantly fed by bogs—the mill was once able to operate year-round.

In the last century, a conflict of interest arose between the miller and several farmers living upstream of the Bade.

The mill can also be toured by appointment and serves as a special wedding venue for couples who wish to exchange vows.
