Located in Etelsen on the banks of the Weser, the castle park was modernized around 1900 by the ducal promenade inspector Friedrich Kreiß of Braunschweig, commissioned by the Danish Count Christian zu Reventlow. The architect of the Neo-Gothic mausoleum was Conrad Wilhelm Hase. Visitors can explore the castle park on walks along more than 4 km of hiking trails.

Clusters of trees, both large and small, break up the open space and connect it to the wooded park area, where a mausoleum is located.

Etelsen Castle is now used as an event venue.
