The 40 participating farmhouse cheesemakers, village dairies and milk manufacturers in Lower Saxony offer visitors the opportunity to sample and purchase the exquisite dairy produce from the region between the North Sea and Harz mountains along a network of different routes. What is impressive is the diversity of different cheese and milk products from the Lower Saxony region.
All the products are made exclusively from untreated milk from the farms’ own cows, buffalo, sheep and goats, and are produced using traditional artisan methods. Visitors can sample local specialities, like ice cream made from goat’s milk or tangy East Frisia Pecorino cheese as well as untreated dairy produce along the “gourmet route”. Arrange a farm visit to get to know the people and animals along the Milk and Cheese Route of Lower Saxony, drop into the farmyard cheesemakers or working show dairies to sample the very best quality of specialist farmhouse cheeses and farmyard dairy produce.
We warmly welcome you on a Gourmet Tour through Lower Saxony. Discover stage by stage each of these milk manufacturers in person. Take an epicurean journey along the Milk and Cheese Route of Lower Saxony!
