Unique natural landscapes are particularly well protected in Niedersachsen. Two national parks, two biosphere reserves, and 14 nature parks have been designated as national natural landscapes in Niedersachsen. Visitors can expect a truly authentic experience of unspoiled nature. Lower Saxony is home to two UNESCO biosphere reserves that serve as models of how conservation and development can coexist in harmony: the  and the .
