Markus Lanz - Grönland, meine Reisen ans Ende der Welt

Other talk, discussion, reading
He usually interviews people with interesting stories. But for almost 15 years, Markus Lanz has regularly swapped the TV studio for one of the most extreme and fascinating regions in the world: Greenland.

"I always carry an incredible amount of stuff with me, including two cameras and more than half a dozen lenses. The telephoto lens alone weighs five kilos, and I've often asked myself why I'm actually doing this to myself. But then a polar bear suddenly appears in this almost unreal winter light and the torture is forgotten," says Lanz.

For National Geographic, he turned the 20,000 or so photos he took into a book that became a bestseller. The ZDF report "Sehnsucht Grönland" was seen by almost four million viewers. In an elaborately produced multi-vision show, Markus Lanz is now presenting his photos and film footage on stage for the first time and sharing his experiences and adventures with the audience.

"We can learn a lot from the last Arctic hunters," says Lanz, "I was particularly impressed by their tremendous ability to concentrate. Anyone who can crouch motionless at a seal hole for five hours at minus 30 degrees must have skills that we have long since lost."
