In her novel, Emine Sevgi Özdamar tells of her first years as a guest worker in Germany, of piecework and the search for identity, and of her return to Istanbul between studying acting and political awakening. She builds bridges not only with her stories, but also with her special language, bringing the worlds between Turkey and Germany, Istanbul and Berlin, to life. Theater Osnabrück travels back to the Bosporus together with Özdamar and establishes new connections to Germany from there. Together with the ensemble and with the support of Osnabrück's Turkish community, director Tanju Girişken creates an empathetic tale of arriving and leaving, homesickness and new beginnings. "For me, the novel is the story of all those who have found freedom of thought in another language, who have healed their words in the language of others." Tanju Girişken, director
