Der Schimmelreiter
==================

- Puppet show

Der Schimmelreiter.png

The mold rider

 based on the novella by Theodor Storm"...if your dyke is to hold, it must have something alive in it."A production that is perhaps even more relevant today than it was during Theodor Storm's lifetime.Hauke Haien tries to avert the impossible and hold back the waves. The clumsiness and superstition of the village stand in his way. But is man even capable of calculating nature and understanding the consequences of his actions?Communication, superstition and reason are the themes of this evening. The polarizing dynamics that preoccupy Hauke Haien and those around him can be found in today's debates about climate change. In Schimmelreiter, the dyke symbolically breaks at the interface between old and new thinking. But perhaps it is possible for us today to connect the breaking points. So let's revive the Schimmelreiter with the means of drama and object and puppet theater.
