World´s biggest lobscouse festival in Wilhelmshaven
Once a typical dish for seafareres and sailors, today lobscouse is a North German specialty. It consists of cured beef, potatoes and beetroot, served with pickled herring and fried egg. Once a year the Wilhelmshaven town centre is transformed into a culinary trail where many eateries serve different versions of the dish. Shanty choirs add to the maritime character of the world´s largest sailors´banquets.
