Lampionfest "Die Elbe brennt!

Please note: It is possible that an event has been cancelled but is still listed on this website. For the latest information about cancelations or postponements please check the organizer’s website.

Every year, we, the fire brigade Drage, celebrate with up to 6000 visitors annually, the traditional Elbmarsch festival, "The Elbe is on fire!"

In the afternoon, the whole thing traditionally starts with the competitions of the competition groups of the volunteer fire departments. They come from all over the district to achieve the best possible place with their performance in the field exercise and to get a trophy.

The evening program, the highlight of the lantern festival, starts with the lantern procession for the little guests. Accompanied by a marching band and the children's fire brigade, they illuminate the village with their lanterns and torches from Hein-Block-Straße to the fairground. In the meantime, guests travel from everywhere to get a particularly good place on the dike, from which they can best admire the fireworks that are reflected on the Elbe. It starts every year between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., depending on how dark it is.

But not only the fireworks are a highlight, but also the boat parade on the Elbe, consisting of a wide variety of ships covered with colored lights. From sports boats to excursion steamers, such as the Lüneburg Heath, to large inland vessels, everything is included.

Shortly before the long-awaited fireworks finally begin, our youth fire brigade initiates the traditional festival with the red light spray.
As soon as the last bang sounded, it is said. Off to the fairground! The evening can also be ended well in Drage. The marquee, to which admission is free, invites you to celebrate and also various stalls for fun and games and of course for the physical well-being.

Admission to the Lantern Festival is only 4, - children up to 12 years come in for free. This includes access to the fairground and the marquee, with all its advantages, of course the fireworks and also the parking. Plenty of free parking spaces are provided directly on the square at Drager Elbdeich.

In this sense, the fire brigade Drage is looking forward to your visit the next time it says "The Elbe is on fire!".

On Wednesday, the 11th of March 2020, the authorities of Lower Saxony announced that all upcoming events in locations that hold more than 1,000 visitors are hereby cancelled until further notice. This was declared by the minister of health and human services, Ms Carola Reimann, at a press conference in Hannover. Additionally, risk assessments for all events expecting less than 1,000 visitors will be conducted. These precautions have been taken in order to prevent the coronavirus from spreading. The decision to cancel large events is based on recommendations made by the federal minister of health Mr Jens Spahn (CDU). According to the public health department, the regulation also includes theatre plays as well as assemblies and meetings in restaurants.
