THE POCKET HONKA
A moral lesson with music
Fritz Honka dismantled four women from the Hamburg half-world into their individual parts at the beginning of the 1970s, in order to store them indefinitely, packed in sky-blue plastic sacks, in the roof locks around his Ottenser attic apartment. No one missed her.
For DER TASCHENHONKA, the majores of the Hamburg Salvation Army Engelbach and Weinand courageously plunged into the dark juggernaut of public reporting and spoken facts with one or the other surprising love song.
A musical contribution to the rehabilitation of an ostracized professional group
Major Engelbach and Major Weinand have asked themselves what kind of business is going on behind the barrier to Herbertstrasse and are immersed in St. Pauli's dark cracks.
From there they bring us songs, songs of lust and vice, money and greed and solar-tanned romance. So they let their little light shine on this branch of industry, which is viewed with skepticism.
With WIR HUREN, the majores perform a musical love service from the sofa in a moody and relaxed manner, as always, entertaining and profitable. WIR HUREN is now their third pocket-sized music theater piece, which is dedicated to the less glamorous corners of St. Pauli and its residents.
Engelbach & Weinand have been developing musical-theatrical miniatures according to the motto "You can't see them in the dark" since 2015.
Engelbach & Weinand is an artist duo from Hamburg, consisting of: Eva Engelbach (composition,
Lyrics and vocals) and Marcel Weinand (direction, lyrics and vocals).
