Stade – the Hanse port

Continuing the Hanse tradition

Originating in 1250 and one of the oldest port facilities in Europe, the Hanse port has remained almost unchanged and been carefully restored. The Schwedenspeicher Museum, the quay walls with their hidden boat stairs and mooring posts, the ketch-rigged sailing ship “Willi”, the wooden crane, the iron crane, the Weigh House, the Baumhaus Museum, the Hude Bridge as well as the merchants’ houses on Wasser West and Wasser Ost give the port a particularly unique yet uniform appearance.
