Norderney is the second largest of the East Frisian Islands and is located in the northwest of Lower Saxony just off the North Sea coast.
Norderney is probably the most diverse of the East Frisian Islands. Right next to the ferry crossing the urban skyline of the city is striking. Architecturally outstanding are the Kurtheater, Kurhaus und Kurhotel showing off the Wilhelminian Style.
Norderney has as its goal to become Europe's most famous thalassotherapy island. In June 2014, Norderney was decorated as one of the first certified thalassotherapy locations in Germany. With its over 600-year old tradition, Norderney is Germany's oldest North Sea Spa. Learn about Norderneyer bathing history in the Bademuseum (Bathing Museum) or experience this live in the therapeutic Bade:haus, Germany's largest thalassotherapy centre, and get to know the beautiful sandy beach of this stunning island.
14 kilometres of fine sandy beaches invite you to walk along the North Sea beach. About 80 kilometres of cycling and walking routes meander through the dunes and along the Wadden Sea. A unique habitat which is recognized by UNESCO as a World Natural Heritage.
