Armours at the National Museum in Emden

The East Frisian Emden State Museum (Ostfriesisches Landesmuseum Emden) is located in the Rathaus am Delft in the town centre and contains an art and cultural-historical collection unique in north-western Germany. The museum has almost 3,000 square metres of exhibition space in which visitors can gain fascinating insights into art and history and view important exhibits that bring East Frisia’s past to life again. The heart of the collection is the Emden Armoury with its swords, matchlock muskets and suits of armour that impressively document the weaponry available in the town at the time. Further attractions include the collection of Dutch Old Masters in the picture gallery, the Bernuthsfeld bog body and the silver treasure of the town of Emden. Contemporary art and cultural-historical themes are presented in temporary special exhibitions.
