There are very few countries in the world that are not familiar with the iconic herbal liqueur Jägermeister. What few people know, however, is that the drink comes from Wolfenbüttel: the Mast-Jägermeister Group has its roots in the W. Mast company, which was founded in 1878 and produced vinegar. The company started making and selling their famous Jägermeister in 1935; today, Jägermeister is Germany’s leading herbal digestif and the family company has been one of the world’s top ten premium spirits brands since 2007. Jägermeister has won over consumers in more than 80 countries; the main markets alongside Germany and the United States are Italy, Hungary and Canada, with sales rising steadily in the UK, South Africa and Australia.
Guests are welcome to visit the factory in Wolfenbüttel. The tourist information office has a special package for groups, which includes a factory tour, a guided walk around the historical town centre of Wolfenbüttel, a typical German lunch in a restaurant in the town centre and a visit to the Jägermeister Fan Shop in at the heart of the old town.
An evening tour followed by a visit to a historic pub in the old town centre and a nightcap – Jägermeister, of course – can be a flavoursome finish to a visit to Wolfenbüttel.
