Overview for hikers from the Klötziestieg to the Elbtalaue

In the Elbtalaue and in the Wendland, there is something for every type of hiker and nature lover. Around 200 km of long-distance trails invite walking enthusiasts to explore and discover the region. From the banks of the Elbe to historic villages, on the Wendland circular route you will discover a diverse and culturally unique landscape.
Along the Elbe river, the Elb-Höhenweg trail leads through the biosphere reserve Niedersächsische Elbtalaue, and from Hitzacker runs parallel to the Klötzie-Stieg trail for a while. From here you can enjoy spectacular views of the Elbe river before the Wendland Weg draws you back inland. The Drawehn Höhenweg leads through the former royal hunting forest Göhrde and through the gently undulating landscape of the Drawehn. And the Wendland-Querweg trail takes you to the fascinating round villages with their picturesque half-timbered houses.
