The International Dollard route is a 180 kilometre long circular bicycle route, well signposted in both directions. The stretch of land around the Dollard on the German-Dutch border has an austere beauty. The peace and quiet of large areas of undiluted nature really has to be experienced. The route winds through land reclaimed from the sea and sleepy little villages and towns which have retained their natural beauty.
Emden, Germany's westernmost port, is endearing and hospitable, traditional and open, entertaining and sporty, natural and green. It's said that you breath in the odours of the whole world in the North Sea port of Delfzijl. Cycle with your back to the wind along the dikes across the flat open countryside. Relax in the healthy North Sea climate and soak up the peace and natural hospitality of the region.
