Nordhorn - former metropolis of the textile industry
The 19th century saw the arrival of the first mechanic weaving mill in Nordhorn. The city profited from the start of the industrial age and this resulted in the settlement of several well-known textile companies. Many job-hunters moved to Nordhorn. A vibrant county town with over 53,000 inhabitants has developed. The unusual economic ascent gave Nordhorn the name of “Little America.” Nowadays Nordhorn is defined more by trade, handicrafts and services. You can find out everything you need to know about the history of the textile industry in Nordhorn in the Povelturm Museum.
Tip: Special guided city tours
