Braunschweig Classix Festival
A festival of classical music in Braunschweig and the region as far as Hanover and Magdeburg. The Braunschweig Classix Festival offers a contrasting programme for ears, eyes and palates in four subject blocks, for seven months long. The variety of the stars and the event locations will be characteristic of the previous years. The gallery of big names is impressive and during the last few years ranged from Cecilia Bartoli to Kurt Masur and the Vienna Philharmonic to the Cleveland Orchestras. A particular focus of the festival is the promotion of international and regional up- and -coming stars.

Pied Piper musical “Rats”
This humorous interpretation of the Pied Piper’s tale with jokes and zest was established in 2000 as an additional attraction during the Expo-period. But it quickly became clear from all sides that this tourist attraction had to stay after the Expo year. Without paying entry fee, you can experience the 40 minute musical, every Sunday at 12:00 am on the terrace of the Hochzeitshaus (Wedding House).

International firework competition in Hanover
The international firework competition always has a varied programme, which invites you to while away the time in the big garden with small art and the “finest” of music long before the high point of the evening, the fireworks. The world’s best pyrotechnic experts are invited to Hanover. In a time slot of 25 minutes fireworks are set off against the backdrop of the Grossen Garten (Large Garden)- a jewel of Baroque garden architecture. The fireworks in Herrenhausen are an unforgettable experience.

International Händel Festival
The 2008 Göttingen International Händel Festival is presented unter the motto "Orpheus Britannicus - Händel in England". Many other concerts and open-air-events invite guests for a visit of Göttingen.

Emden Matjes Days
Traditional ships from Germany and abroad anchor up at the inland port and Ratsdelft and together with lots of Shanty singers provide a maritime flair. And just like last year the Emden running community will be taking part in the popular Matjes run through the town centre.

Weekend on the Jade
Big harbour party with water, land and air activities. The events with the navy will be the main focus of the celebrations around the large harbour. On the open air stages and in the fun tents, over 80 music groups will entertain the public. Plus: open ship on the countless steam boats, museum and sailing ships, the dragon boat race, the original witch village and the closing fireworks.

Schützenfest (Shooting Festival)
During the „Schützenfest“ you will get to know the lively side of Hannover. Each year you will experience all the hustle and bustle of a popular funfair as well as partying at the biggest Marksmen‘s Fair in the world. 2 million visitors will experience a breathtaking variety of novelties and nostalgic rides and carousels. Plenty of beer gardens, Booths, party tents and show stages will enable you to enjoy a unique and exiting programme. Over 5.000 marksmen from clubs from all over Germany will participate in the showpiece “Grand Parade of the Marksmen”. There will be music in the air with more than 5.000 musicians from many different nations on hand to play for you and put you in a party mood. The entire city of Hannover is waiting to give you a big Hannover welcome to „Schützenfest“.

Maschee Festival in Hannover
On the promenade of the Maschee Lake the Hanover people and visitors from all over Northern Germany have celebrated an enormous party since 1986 - the Maschee Lake Party. The almost three-week party marathon has a distinct maritime atmosphere, which the tree-lined and palm fringed lake boulevard. On Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays a varied fun and games programme is offered for young and old, as well as a varied food and drinks offer. Stages can be found at the Löwenbastion, at the source of the lake, where a mixed music line-up will be presented to suit every taste.

Celler Hengstparade (Stallion Parade)
The annual Celle Stallion Parade is one of the most outstanding occasions in the international series of events. Hanoverian stallions are put through their paces. The three hour programme shows the horses being led by hand, ridden or pulling historic carriages. On arrival day is a cosy chat and information session. A typical Niedersachsen evening meal will round off a weekend that you’ll enjoy telling your friends about.
